Somebody help me, I keep buying birds!
Our family has so enjoyed our new cockatiel, we decided to add one more final bird to the flock. We went to the pet store today to upgrade Piccolo's cage to something bigger, and I saw the same budgie I had my eye on during a recent visit to the store. I really liked this budgie, but Piccolo was still brand new at our home and I didn't know a lot about budgies! I really was drawn to her though, she would sit very near me and listen to me whisper to her, she hopped around her cage to where I was standing and was such a funny little bird all around! I came home a did some research and thought if I could just make my husband see the bird.....
Yay! When we went to pick up Piccolo's new cage she was still there. My husband agreed to ONE more bird I would already have a cage for her (Piccolo's now old cage) and she was just too cool to pass on!
She is just a baby, less then 3 months old. I was told by the clerk she was female. Lucas quickly named her Tinkerbelle, because she was small, green, and a girl.
Holy crap though, she is SUPER fast. She bounces around that cage like her tailfeathers are on fire! She is much more outgoing and curious then Piccolo ever has been. She is hilarious to watch!
Here are the pics!!

We used to keep buying them too. We had at least 4 in our home all at the same time and then we've also had ducks and at least 10 birds in my life. So I know exactly how that is. Anyway your son is so funny. I love the pics of him in the sticky. Tinkerbelle is a great name for the bird too. I love it!

I would like to let them out together, however for now they must be apart for 30 days in case Tinkerbelle is sick, that way she can't pass anything to Piccolo. Tinkerbelle isn't near tame enough to allow out of the cage however I had made nice progress with her. She is much calmer and more trusting then Piccolo has ever been. She will sit on my finger and allow soft stroking. Piccolo I can only stroke his long tailfeathers, anything else and he FREAKS. Piccolo will perch on me, attack my fingers, and come to me when called- it all has to be on his terms. I can't touch him, but he can touch me if that makes any sense! Piccolo isn't in his cage much during the day, he can come and go as he pleases. He chirps softly and calls gently back to Tinkerbelle when she is vocal, otherwise he is pretty happy in his new cage! They cannot be housed together as budgies (Tinkerbelle) are more agressive and she will easily bully around Piccolo, who is like 3x her size. They can have supervised play time together though!

KellaNC- I did a lot of research on keeping a single budgie. They all said with lots of interaction they are just fine. When and if I ever return back to work, I will get her a buddy. For now, she gets lots of love and attention from us, as does Piccolo. They are spoiled birdies already.
