Okay, I've spent two days now exploring middle names, hours at a time browsing. I have to say, the name Athena is not easy to pair up with another. Athena....should I follow tradition and give her my mom's middle name, Marie?
Athena Marie
Or no tradition? So many names to choose and yet so very little sound okay. I've given up on the meanings. I just want a name that works well. Other possibilities:
Athena Emlyn
Athena Hope
So far, tradition can't seem to do me wrong here. If anybody has some name ideas, let me know. Or if you think I should stick with tradition, let me know that too, definitely.
Thank you everybody for your input!

Marie is boring. It may be 'tradition', but the problem is that it's 'tradition' for lots and lots of people whose grandmothers probably simply stuck Marie in their mother's name because it 'sounded good'. Hope I'm neutral on, but Emlyn?! Emily is way overused, but at least it's a classic - swapping the ending for a -lyn is trendy nothingness. I mean this in a good way, but how can you pick a great name like Athena and spend hours looking for middle names and come up with Emlyn?

Some names from my list:

Caroline, Cecily, Felicity, Frances, Harriet, Hermione, Iolanthe, Jillian, Liberty, Linnea, Linnet, Madeleine, Octavia, Penelope, Rhiannon, Roxanne, Simone, Victoria.

It is difficult though, the only one I really like is Athena Penelope.

I got Emlyn from this website. Apparently, it's Welsh. Maybe what makes it hard is the last name lingering on the edge of my mind. I don't know if my baby is going to have it's father's last name or my last name. And I really hope it isn't mine--Senjanovich. Say it with me:
Sen-Jen-Oh-Vich.
Penelope is a pretty name, but any name paired with my last name just doesn't sound right. Yet, it will most likely end up with the father's name:
Spies (pronounced like Spees). Athena Penelope Spies sounds very nice together. Maybe I'm being too particular, too, because I would have never thought of pairing the name up with your suggestions. Gotta keep searchin, and any continued responses will most certainly help!
Thanks a bunch!
