I am having a little boy and we both have agreed and stuck on the name Dylan. My mother in law and all her family keep going on and on about how they have only seen it spelled that way once and that was for BobDylan. They keep trying to tell me spelling it that way people are going to call him Die-lan. Isn't Dylan the more normal way of spelling this name?
DYLAN
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Welsh, English, Welsh Mythology
Pronounced: DUL-an (Welsh), DIL-un (English) [key]
Extra Info: Popularity, Related Names, Websites
Options: Contribute Information
From the Welsh elements dy "great" and llanw "sea". In Welsh mythology Dylan was a god of the sea, the son of Aranrhod. He was accidentally slain by his uncle Govannon. The Welsh poet DylanThomas and the musician BobDylan are famous bearers of this name.
My Gram's also likes Micheal. I just don't the M-M sound. Our last name is Mace. Our middle names change each month. (Avery, Charles, Connor, Bradley, Cole, Clifford)
When yall see the name Dylan spelled Dylan do you hesitate and almost pronounce it Die-lan?
My in law's and their family really drive me nuts. They are saying how they done bought personalized items with it spelled Dillon. Oh well it's gonna be Dylan. This isn't a new name either. It's been picked out since I was 3 months preggers.

definitely not! I think your MIL is a little nuts if you ask me (no offense). Dylan is a known name, as is, I don't think anyone would think to pronounce it "die-lan" I wouldn't worry about it at all, she doesn't know what she's talking about
I don't think people will have a problem with the pronunciation. Most people have heard of BobDylan or the poet DylanThomas or know of someone else with the name.
