Well, there will be no additions to our family for another year, however, everyone else seems to be getting advice on 'possible babies', so why not me? I think its interesting to hear peoples' opinions and if I can get at least the names prepared, well, thats one thing out of the way!
Anyway, throw your opinions at me...
Well, those are all of my favorite names. Some more so than others.
Please tell me what names go best together, your favorites, the ones you hate, etc...
I already have 2 sons:
Sebastian Phoenix
IsaiahDaniel
Which names go best with their names?
Thanks for any advice!!!!
Zuleika/Zuleyka - This is bizarre. Where's it from? But I like Zipporah so who am I to comment?
Amiya/Amaya - 'Wishy-washy' sounding to me.
Hermione - Fantastic - avoid if you hate Harry Potter though because that'll be nearly everyone's first association.
Imogen - Like, even though I want to sing 'Imogen all the people ...'.
Josephine - Never liked, something about the sound, and I can't stand Josie.
Lydia - Never liked, it's the 'lid' sound - reminds me of eye lid.
Alexandrea - Like, because I love Alexander the Great .
Chloe - Most popular girl's name in England for, what, the last five years? I'm really tired of it.
Naomi - Great name, unusual but recognised.
Phoebe - Like.
Seraphina - Too many religious connotations for me.
Tatiana/Tatyana - Don't like the 'tatty' sound.
Shaina - Hate, reminds me of that thug male name Shane.
Grace - Like.
Elijah - Like, despite Elijah Wood.
Alfred - There are just some names I don't want to see back in fashion.
Ethan - Really hate the sound of this, reminds me of ethane and ether.
Jeremiah - Like. You'll get the same reaction as Isaiah does I imagine.
Xavier/Zavier - Like, spell it Xavier - X names rule!
Nathaniel/Nathanial - I like Nathaniel, mainly for the nickname Nate.
Joaquin - Isn't this pronounced like 'Whack him'?
Caleb - Like.
Gabriel - Never liked, although I like Gabe.
Bradley - Not a fan of most male Br- names or 'macho' names ('Brad').
Benjamin - OK but Ben is too plain for me.
Thanks for that Jayday! Zuleika is an Arabic name and means brilliant, lovely, beautiful, and fair-haired. My partner is half-Iraqi so I do like looking at Arabic names but very rarely see anything that I like. We have an Arabic last name so the effect of another Arabic name may sound a bit tooo foreign living in England. I've only known one other Zuleika and she was stunning and extremely popular with people so that may be why I love it so much. (Soooo many names have been ruined for me by other people!-I tend to look at names that I've never known anyone else with.) Also, as I'm blonde, any daughter we may have in the future would probably be in fact a fair-haired Arab!
Anyway, I agreed with most of your comments and you've confirmed any doubts I already had with some of the names. Thanks for helping me narrow down my list!
Nevaeh is just one of my biggest peeves. Idiocy in the highest degree (in my opinion). "Let's just find a word, spell it backward and call it a name!" Another peeve is X's where CKS should be. Ick all around.
Mydnightmama is a big offender to the peeve part of my brain!
