I'm not exactly new, but a lot of people have been asking about me, so I'll tell a little about myself here.

My name is Siegfried Scheiding. I'm still in my 20s. My picture is to the left of this post. I stand 6 feet, 1 inch, and weigh about 175 lbs.

I was born in München, Germany. That's in the province of Bayern, in the southeast. I was fortunate enough to live on the right side of the wall. We were in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD), the free side. The other side was the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR) and it was anything but free. I grew up in a very traditional, conservative family, such as those that can still be found in some of the rural areas of Germany, particularly around Freiburg. We lived in Nürnberg, an absolutely beautiful city that still ranks as one of my favourites to this day, along with Hamburg, Vancouver, and Berchtesgaden. I studied at the Willstätter-Gymnasium in Nürnberg. During that time, my parents sent me to live for a time in Canada with my grandparents, in order to learn English. My father felt that it would serve me well in business.

I landed in Toronto, Canada, not speaking a word of English, yet I fell in love with the country immediately. I spoke to as many people as I could and read everything I could find about Canada and its history. In this way, I picked up English quite quickly. I find that English is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Getting people to understand you is simple. Being able to construct grammatically correct sentances takes a lot more effort.

I returned to Canada upon graduation from the Gymnasium and enrolled at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. There I studied history, against my father's wishes. I had intended to teach, but after a few years, abandoned the plan. I felt that my place was in business, an idea that my father wholeheartedly supported. He has had great success in business, as has my grandfather. My family has a proud military tradition from the days of Bismarck's Prussia and the North German Federation, to the decline of the German military caste after WW2. From then to now, the family has pursued business. In my earlier years, I considered joining the military. Certainly, aspects of it appealed to me. However, in the end, I decided it was not for me, and my move to Canada prevented me from being conscripted into the Bundeswehr.

During my university years, after many unhappy romances, I finally met my wife, Erin. She was very young when we met. Her and I were coworkers and I immediately became interested in her, despite being in a committed, 9-month relationship at the time. I knew she was the one for me. We became friends, and began dating upon her graduation from high school. We later married, and have enjoyed a happy marriage to this day. She is of British descent and speaks English and French, but not German. We returned to my homeland for our honeymoon, and she fell in love with it just as I had fallen in love with Canada. We decided to move there. We did so, and decided, after just a few months, that it was not the right decision for us. We returned to Canada, suffering a significant financial loss, and learned a valuable lesson about rash decision making. We have resided in western Canada since then, returning to Germany periodically during holidays from work. We spend the month of December in Berchtesgaden, a small town in the Bavarian Alps near the Austrian border. I know of no better place in the world. In winter it is so peaceful. When we go there, we can get away from everything. No work, nobody to bother us. Just the two of us. It is an excellent way to keep the romance alive.

We relocated a few years ago from Vancouver, BC, to Kelowna, BC, becuase we didn't want to raise a family in Vancouver, and have enjoyed our time in this small resort community on the lake, nestled between the Rocky Mountain and Coast Mountain ranges.

In September 2003 my wife gave birth to our first child, a daughter which we named Eva Camille. This month we are expecting our second, which we will name Kayla Isabelle.

Hello, my name is Christina and I just found this site a few hours ago (it was linked on another baby name site I frequent). I spent a bit of time browsing the old posts, getting a feel for the members here, and I definitely liked what I saw so I decided to join up! A little about me: I'm 21, currently a student taking distance learning courses, and I live on the West Coast of the USA. I've been married for almost a year and a half to my wonderful husband Brian, who is a member of the US Navy, and we're expecting our first baby, a girl, on October 16 of this year. Umm, I guess that's everything for now, just wanted to throw out a "hello" and express how excited I am to have found this board. Hope to "meet" and chat with lots of new people soon!! Smile

Hi, I'm Melissa. I live in Missouri, USA. I found this site a couple of weeks ago and I've been posting as a guest up until now.

My husband and I have been trying for our first child for a year and a half. Next month I'm having a test done to make sure that my tubes aren't blocked. I've heard that quite a few women get pregnant after that test, so I'm hoping that I'll be one of them.

After the first talk my husband and I had about names, I know that we are going to need all the time we can get to decide on names.
